Future production with Industry 4.0 @ Bosch

17th October 2017 11:30-12:20 Lab Hall

What does Industry 4.0 actually mean? It means that the Internet of Things (IoT) is finding its way into manufacturing. In the factory, production lines will be connected. People are in control of this fourth Industrial Revolution. One of its features is the global connectivity of value chains across companies. For example, the configuration and personalization of cars will take a new dimension in the future. It will be possible to freely select the size and shape of the cars using virtual reality. No two cars will be alike again because they will be individually tailored to customer’s needs. The automaker generates the design data from the 3D model sends the data to various suppliers and there the data undergoes to the final virtual design and testing process. After that the process model is selected for manufacturing. The production process starts from virtual representations. The production lines and supply chain after that is self-organizing based on the internet connectivity and the smart data.

The presentation will discuss customer projects and technical solutions based on Bosch’s IoT platform and deployed in different cloud environments such as Bosch IoT Cloud, Amazon Web Services, SAP Leonardo, and Micorsoft Azure. In addition, we present open source projects developed as a part of the Eclipse IoT Working Goup, OASIS, the Industrial Internet Consortium and the Linux Foundation.
